Chimney Top Salve

The Chimney Top Salve was inspired one of my favorite scrambling and climbing areas in the state. Of course, any form of rock climbing results in tons of scrapes and scratches that take forever to heal before your next adventure. This balm is full of supercharged herbs to speed up the skin's recovery from cuts and scrapes from any kind of adventure, or if you happen to be as clumsy as I am. Herbs like plantain leaf and comfrey root speed up skin cell production to help wounds heal over while lavender, calendula and vitamin E oil soothe skin and help prevent scarring. Because this salve is so effective at healing the epidermis, be sure not to use it on any particularly deep or puncture wounds because it could heal the skin overtop the wound and cause an abscess. For best results, use the salve after a shower and cover the wound for about four hours to keep the wound clean while the salve works its magic!
This hard balm is made from organic coconut, avocado, jojoba and vitamin E oils infused with only foraged or homegrown herbs to ensure everything is sourced responsibly and organically. Coconut oil intensely moisturizes and avocado oil makes sure the salve soaks into the skin rather than just creating a film on top, while jojoba oil mimics our bodies' natural oil structure to encourage the moisture to sink in and help the skin heal itself. If you're unsure about any ingredients, be sure to ask a doctor before using any herbs topically you're unsure about. Only use this salve for about three days at a time before giving your skin a break to heal on its own.
My salves are not made with artificial colors, scents or essential oils so they are compatible with all skin types, including sensitive skin. The oils used in this recipe are all organic, and all herbs used are either foraged or grown in my garden to ensure that they're ethically sourced and don't contain any pesticides. Beeswax used in my balms and salves is obtained from a local apiary to make sure the wax is extracted ethically and support local farmers trying to rebuild our bee population.
