Old Backbone Salve

$7.75
Named after one of the most overgrown and poison ivy-filled trails I've ever hiked, The Old Backbone Salve is a balm adapted from old family remedies to help with poison ivy and bug bites. Ironically, it's mostly made of foraged herbs that can be found growing alongside any trail or at the edge of any tree-line in central Appalachia, jewelweed and violet leaf. This salve is made with the slow infusion method to make sure not to damage or hinder the itch-relieving properties of the herbs inside. The jewelweed and violet are accompanied by other foraged herbs to help nourish and moisturize to make sure dry skin won't exacerbate any itching, and contains fair-trade shea butter to lock that moisture in so you skin can begin to heal the rash. Non-comedogenic oils like avocado and jojoba oils make sure that your skin can soak up the healing herbal properties, instead of just forming a film that sits on top of the skin.

My salves are not made with artificial colors, scents or essential oils so they are compatible with all skin types, including sensitive skin. The oils used in this recipe are all organic, and all herbs used are either foraged or grown in my garden to ensure that they're ethically sourced and don't contain any pesticides. Beeswax used in my balms and salves is obtained from a local apiary to make sure the wax is extracted ethically and support local farmers trying to rebuild our bee population. All Old Backbone Salves are topped with a dried violet flower as a seal of my approval of quality. Make sure to check the ingredients listed on case of allergies, and ask your doctor if you're unsure of any herbs.
